And, ah, Kirk/Spock without Uhura does make me sadfaced. I managed it for someone I really owed a story for, but even then it was a massive genderswap au and I'm already in the planning stages for the sequel where Uhura is introduced and they both fall for her.

I wrote her for the reasons I write genderswap in Reboot fandom; she started as my genderswapped Pippin, though she is not quite the same person as Pippin. But oh, she was such fun, and like every character I adore, I both gave her lots of fun and made her suffer. (If you rummage my files -- I have a 'Pervinca' Memories category -- you'll see a little story called "Snare". I wrote the whole thing but only posted that section, for reasons that will be obvious upon reading. It was at least as painful as "Those Who Favor Fire".)

2. Runner-up pairing. Pike/George Kirk, Pike/Kirkparents, McCoy/Pike.
3. Honourable mention(s). Chekov/Pike can be very satisfying. In one of my few cases of desiring UST, I can't write Pike/Winona without George. I always envision that as Pike/GEORGE IS DEAD/Winona.
4. Crack pairing(s). Pike/Chertian! AHAHA I kid. And I'm not even mentioning the tentacles.
5. Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't. Can't think of one. I do hate Pike/any Kirk with Evil Winona, but that's not surprising.

One day I'm going to write it. Two coffee cups, and Chris and Winona, and maybe Jim asleep at her feet or maybe in a cafe or maybe in his Ready Room, but the two of them and two coffee cups and three feet of infinite space between them because George is dead.

Meanwhile, I have written something else which I think you might like. Even though no Chertians are involved. :D
