While I'm At It, Two Recs From The Drabblefest

Really, the [livejournal.com profile] where_no_woman drabblefests overflow with glory, and I'm really glad I have the chance to steal a little time to participate. But I wanted to make particular note of two ficlets by [livejournal.com profile] possibly_thrice.

"Well, I guess death will solve the issue to everyone's satisfaction." Amanda Grayson's death. If I say that this gave me nightmares, does that sound like the compliment I mean it to be? It's so vivid I felt hot after reading it. And scoured.

"I am going away... to an unknown country where I shall have no past and no name..." Gaila's rebirth. I am so impressed with this one I can't even say. Some of you have seen my rants about the Enterprise canon on Orion women, and the people who think it should be mandatory. I chose to ignore it; [livejournal.com profile] possibly_thrice took it and worked it, and one popular fanonical background for Gaila, into a truly alien-feeling, actually science-fictional, yet resonantly recognizeable piece of narrative art.

Considering that I have an enormous amount of trouble writing anything with a plot, let alone a proper science-fictiony one, THIS MADE ME FLAILY AS FUCK. Flailier than fuck, I should say. <333

That just makes you even more accomplished, that you pulled off such a tale with grace and aplomb. :D
