I enjoyed this movie as I'm a big fan of the musical. Aside from Bonham Carter's obvious lack of singing skills, the thing that drives me nuts about this production is casting Tobias Ragg as a child rather than the simple-minded young adult he's supposed to be. Then again, a friend of mine originated the role of Toby on Broadway so I'm probably biased ;) I do love how lovely Johanna's voice is. Often, you hear the actress playing the role forcing to get what I call an "operatic sweetness" out of her voice, going to reedy when she's in Fogg's Asylum and afterwards. This time, we get a simple, light voice and it makes me happy.

Also, I agree with you about Johanna. As soon as she started in on "Green Finch and Linnet Bird" I was transfixed.
