When I have lost my squee

I haven't written much recently. The details aren't worth going into.

But [livejournal.com profile] hyel took an idea I've had for years and drew it fully and beautifully.

This icon is from a drawing by [livejournal.com profile] _audrey (based on a story of mine!), who has been drawing up a fabulous Robinly storm lately, as can be seen in [livejournal.com profile] d0wn_on_paper.

[livejournal.com profile] danachan is working on an exploration of the Shire in general and her lovely OC Alyssum in particular over at [livejournal.com profile] alyssum_b.

Also, two friends of mine are dressed as Robin for Halloween, and they both look *so* great. I'd link to their posts but they're locked, but I still wanted to praise their ingenuity and awesomeness.

I don't know when, if ever, I'll be writing again. But other people are being splendidly creative, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate that.

I will miss your stories, but since the squee isn't there I understand perfectly why you'd want to get away from it all for however long, though I hope it won't be forever. I just want to say thank you for all the wonderful words and worlds you have shared. :)

And I wanted to thank you for this sweet, kind note. Thank you *very* much. :)

Hee! That'd be an awesome card to send out!

It's been my card for years, but Hyelie's version is far superior to any of the ones I drew.

You don't have to write to be *you.*

*hugs*

*hugs back* This was... incredibly reassuring to be told.

What Petra said, honey. I didn't friend you just for the fic, and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same.

*glomp*

*glomps you back* :D

Well, I don't think you will lose the writing forever. But you are right not to push it if you don't feel it.

In the meantime - you are still Ruby! And that is a most fabulous and unique position to have!

*hugs*

*beam* Thank you, sweetie. *hugs you tightly back*

Eh, your muse is likely just on a short vacation. Sometimes muses need a rest. Hang out and enjoy. Read new things and old favorites and listen to new music and old tried-and-true and watch new movies and movies you love. It will recharge your batteries!

*hugs*

[identity profile] rubynye.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
I've been following your wise advice, and it has been helping. *hugs you back*

[identity profile] danachan.livejournal.com 2005-10-30 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I never thanked you for the journal rec. *lopsided grin* Thank you, love.

And, just so you know, sometimes our muses get worn out. Sometimes I feel like I'll never write again, and then, when I am writing, it feels like I'm fighting tooth and nail just to get these words, even if they're not the ones I'd rather them be. So, don't try and force it -- relax. Read. Watch things. Oh, and relax.

Also, you're the most amazing you I know. If you're not posting fic for a while, well, that's not the only reason that I'm here.

*hugs*

[identity profile] rubynye.livejournal.com 2005-11-03 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Hon, you are most welcome. *hugs you tightly* I try to be... a decent me, I guess.

You're the best you there could be, I think.

(I might be biased. Awfully fond of you and all. *grin*)

Ruby, I"m sorry you're feeling squeeless. But you're still *you* and nothing you've written so far has gone away, has it? It's still here and a bit of it just warmed my heart so much I had to go over and add it to the list at http://www.livejournal.com/community/lotr_fic_recs/. Sorry I gave the WOTM link but I'm new enough to you that I don't know what's your preferred own archive (or how to find stuff on your LJ).

I have not yet managed to see every little thing you've written yet which is my loss and I'm trying to rectify it :-) But even if you never wrote another thing in your life (which won't happen) you'd still have given so much more than many ever will. When a complete stranger squees because she sees a fic and notices it was written by you, isn't that something? I hope it's a little something.

*shuffles off to have another go at Last Look*

You know, you absolutely *made* my day with this comment (and you thought so highly of my little story!) Thank you, a *lot*.
