The Olympics [a smidge]

I remembered the lyrics to the Jamaican National Anthem! And sang them along with Usain Bolt's medal ceremony. Bwee.

I have not gotten to see nearly as much as I would have liked of this year's Olympics, but I'm glad they are happening. I always love the Olympics. These are just plain the sort of sport I actually enjoy watching.

Does anyone remember ABC's Wide World of SPorts? "The thrill of victory.... and the agony of defeat." *cue skier rolling ass=over-teakettle down a snowy hill* I wish that were still on, a weekly dose of track/swimming/gymnastics/etc. But I'm glad the Olympics are on right now, even if I haven't seen much of them. Yet.

That honor is reserved for the woman who first brought fire art other than the eponymous effigy to the event.

I've met her several times and worked with her tangentially.

Nothing to apologize for - I don't expect anyone who hasn't been to have more than a passing knowledge of the fact that the event exists.

(It's not in the Mojave, though - the Black Rock Desert is two hours east of Reno. http://blackrockdesert.org/blackrockdesert/ )

...thinking back, I may have made the same mistake before I ever started attending...I have a vague recollection of telling [livejournal.com profile] dafydd I wanted to stop at the Mojave Phone Booth and him doing his best to gently correct me.
