People of Color in European Art History

http://medievalpoc.tumblr.com

This blog is an example of what I love about the Internet. I would say that someone should show it to everyone who argues that it's not 'realistic' to put POC in quasi-European fantasy (let alone SF), but I don't want to inflict them on the blog's author.

Lesson for me--Three famous constellations, Andromeda, Casseopeia, and Cephus are named for and depict sub-saharan African royalty.

Wonderful! Thank you for posting this. I particularly love the one by Rembrandt, I'm going to add that to one of my pinterest boards.

The mural at the Royal Palace in Kensington features two black men among the courtiers: both were the principle body servants (ie not exactly "servants" in the modern sense) of George I.

ps, I also recommend Robert Winder's book Bloody Foreigners for a more accurate set of info about who was in England in pretty much any period (there were probably more Africans than Scots in 15th century London).
