Eee and Haw

One nice thing about being a foodie is that shopping therapy can be inexpensive. It isn't always -- o, for an electric knife! o, for a big shiny Cuisinart (or even another Mini Chopper)! -- but it can be as cheap as a handful of beautifully fresh vegetables and a stomach full of dumplings, and as priceless as the company of a wonderful friend.

So, I was having a not so good day; a couple of people saw my Emo Post about that day. (The line about people making requests feeling like they were "ripping strips off my flesh" was rather dramatic. *laugh at myself*) Then [livejournal.com profile] bercilakslady came by my workplace (bringing delicious fruitcake, which I have had for breakfast), and we went out to dinner at Super 88, then trotted around the store finding awesome things and scary ones ("wife cake" eeeek!). I found among other things, "gourmet" haw flakes, galangal, pressed tofu, and chicken zongzi; BL found these bean-filled snacks she's been looking for, and gave me one.

I was going to put a review of that lovely bean snack here, as I'd planned to eat it this morning on my way to work. Then I got to work, and found Parents' Day in full rollicking swing. Whee-ya. So I have yet to eat it, but I still have it, an edible memento of my night out with BL eating dumplings and cheering up. *grin*
