For my friends from the LOTRPS and Mary Renault fandoms: I was rummaging my files and found this, and thought it might amuse. Elijah/Karl, Elijah/Sean B, Evil Daisy, Classical Greek AU.
What a play it would make, Elijah thought bitterly, holding his cloak around himself. A pair of lovers, stranded on a ship with a hostile, unscrupulous captain, the elder ill and the younger with little more fortune than his face, and the nearest city such a bitter enemy of Athens that any Athenians landing there would be immediately sold into slavery.
Dionysos, Elijah thought, more wistfully, you too faced trouble on the seas. Might you not aid your servants? He listened a moment, because he was young, but heard nothing but the waves' crash and the seabirds' cries; so, because he was practical, he turned away from the railing, pulling on a smile like a mask.
[Sean is ill. If Elijah can get them to X city, he can get them to Sean’s guest friends, or at least a good inn. The captain is being a jerk; Elijah acts sweetly, and ends up going to bed with him. His thoughts all through, of this man, of Sean. When he limps back to Sean afterwards, Sean looks at him hard, smears his thumbs over his cheeks, and then wordlessly embraces him and mutters "you acted for both our lives".
Figure out who the captain is. I don't want to make him Karl. Maybe Daisy? I've always wanted to give David a chance to be a bad guy. Ah! Craig or Daisy, Karl his kind second in command. Elijah flirts with captain, captain says you're a lovely lad, too bad I prefer girls, but my second has been drooling over you and if you'll go to bed with him I'll land you where you need to be.
Elijah complains that he would have expected such behavior from a Phoenecian but not from a fellow Hellene.
Elijah thinks of a flute-girl he knew, telling him they're in the same business.
(For Baranduin, since she likes Lij and these three men)
