I seem to be having a smidge of insomnia; maybe I can stay up to watch Curiosity's descent to Mars in about an hour. I hope it makes it; currently, Mars is ahead of us. Still, I love that we little blobs of wet carbon are up to exploration on this scale.

I am also up watching and listening, to the google+ virtual landing party. Cool people like Dr. Pamela Gay, who did something out here some number of years ago (I met her at a BIQ when Talis was small).

I ended up falling asleep atop my computer, but it was lovely to wake to this comment. :)

She's down safely! Either that, or all three of the computers watching the live feed in this house (the kids are sharing one screen) are lying to us.

When I turned on the radio this morning, I heard applause and cheers and thought, "I hope they're cheering for Curiosity!" Happy thing to wake up to today.

Bwee! It really was a delight, and I look forward to Curiosity's pictures featuring on APOD (http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html).

*blushes and huggles you* I am perennially amazed at how wonderful and how awful people are. I adore this moment of wonderful accomplishment, and I'm glad you're one of the people I get to share it with. :D
