School of Fashion Design’s Summer High School Fashion Prep 2012
A Pre-College Workshop for High School Students
Beginner and Advanced levels are available and include:
1. Fashion Art – Color, 2D, 3D Design, figure drawing, fashion sketching and illustration; and portfolio presentation.
2. Clothing Construction and Detail – pattern manipulation & adjustment, fabric selection, cutting, machine stitching, hand sewing, pressing and detailing.
THE PREP PROGRAM IS EXCLUSIVELY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
1. Who may be considering a career objective of professional fashion design.
2. Who may want to explore certain aspects of fashion design – as well as their interests and talents within before they commit themselves to a particular college.
3. Whose high school program may not include art and/or sewing classes.
4. Who may want/need to formulate (for possible college or job applications) a portfolio of both fashion
drawings and sewing projects.
5. Who may simply be interested in fashion design as an avocation (hobby, craft, relaxation, etc.) to supplement their own interests.
6. Students interested in the advanced workshop need to have completed the beginner level of the prep program.
The Summer 2012 SESSIONS will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Both sessions are 4 weeks long. The July session will run from July 9th through July 30th. The August session will run from August 1st through August 22nd. TUITION: $950.00

The School of Fashion Design was established in 1934 and is the only educational institution in Massachusetts dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. A curriculum has been developed that stresses a solid foundation in traditional techniques, addresses the technological demands of the contemporary market and remains innovative by evolving with the industry.
The A Gallery at the School of Fashion Design is Boston’s Fashion Art Space which hosts monthly installations exploring the art, design and craft of fashion in all its incarnations.
