Talis and I have two hives of bees! :-) Hopefully there will be lots of honey later this year, and beeswax. :-) *hug*

hives of bees you say? I get my first package on Saturday!

Yes, these were installed last Saturday, the 28th. I just came in from checking them, the queen's are out of their cages, and so those have been removed. Word for the wise; I have the plastic trays in the hive top feeders backwards, so there are a lot of dead bees, :-( so make sure you put them in right side up. But, there is comb being built out on the inner frames! Where are you? Anywhere close by to the Big Blue House in Milford, MA? I love your icon!

Fingers crossed for your hives this yr. Thanks for the tip.

I am down in Philly. My package is a little later timewise than I wanted, but it was the next available to me. I pick them up saturday up at my in laws and drive them down sunday. Can't wait to get them in their hive.

(Icon is from a bee scientist in MI. I just formatted it for LJ.)

I've heard that some hives will have a first run of honey that's too watery for use as regular honey. If you encounter such a misfortune, let me know. I'd love to turn it into mead.

Hooray for your bees!
