Now that "the other side" has spoken up, there are more and more people claiming hoaxitude about rachelmanija and sartorias's report of being told to straighten a gay character in their YA novel. cleolinda has written an excellent post about how and why it is not at all a hoax.

(There is a whole discussion to be had about intentions vs actions and how someone can promote an attitude they don't share through their acquiescence to it, but I'll get into that another day.)
