I think kate_nepveu is going to be at boskone, and has similar misgivings. If you don't know her you might introduce yourself (I don't know her in RL but she seems cool via her LJ, and she has an adorable kid, always a plus).

edit to clarify: adorable kid is a plus not because childfree is bad, but because I like the cute, whether kid, doll, puppy, or otherwise.
