Two links of note, both from multiple sources:

"Believe Me, It's Torture". Christopher Hitchens voluntarily underwent waterboarding in order to evaluate and write about the experience. I haven't finished the article yet, because his description was very, and appropriately, disturbing.

A scientist prevails over creationists who challenge his work without bothering to read it (and go on to, among other outrageous statements, demand 'stewardship' over part of his bacterial colony). A bonus: "Some exceptionally clear thinking on science and religion" from Professor Lenski's webpage. He must be overwhelmed with fanmail, or I'd write him approvingly.

I don't see what's so great about the Hitchens piece. I was capable of understanding that waterboarding was torture without even trying very hard to imagine what it would be like. Why is he getting so much attention for being so thick-skulled as to think it might not be until he underwent it with a safeword at the hands of people he trusted?

Sadly, because even being slightly less thick-skulled than all of the apologists who aren't willing to undergo a little bit of "fraternity hazing" to prove their point is far too rare among the punditocracy.
