Movie Night
I went with WD and WF to see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas at the Embassy Theater tonight. It was interesting seeing it again after ten years --- noticing things I hadn't before about story, acting, charaterization, and the movie's construction -- and also noticing the differences in my own emotional reaction (the scene that affected me most on this viewing -- the waitress in the diner -- isn't one I even recalled from my last viewing.)
(Also, spotting the cameos was much more fun with ten more years of movie watching under my belt.)
(Insert discussion of Terry Gilliam's hallucinatory visual style here.)
(And of watching the movie with someone who was an adult in the 1960's and 70's, noting what made him laugh with recognition. )
Can something put one in both a good mood and a bad mood? I had a great time tonight (the company was wonderful *blows kiss*) and the movie was masterful and entertaining, and everything that bugged me about it was *supposed* to bug one. But I still feel bad for that waitress.
